Update to severe weather, the NWS is still forecasting a potent storm risk for our area. The main threat is late night high winds as well as tornado's. Remember to keep your phones or weather radios plugged in and volume turned up to wake you during the night if the weather service sends a emergency alert. Have a plan in place incase a tornado threat does occur. All Parish Fire Districts and Parish Emergency Services are meeting today to make any final preparations as well as keeping a close eye on this storm. We will have emergency personnel prepared and ready to respond to any emergencies that may arise across all of Desoto Parish. Please refrain from driving during or after the storm unless for an emergency, it could be likely there will be trees and lines down as well as many other hazards that could occur. Emergency vehicles will be out in full force and could be hindered by unnecessary traffic on the roads, as well as you could be in a incident. Keep updated by your local weather throughout the evening. STAY SAFE!

Please pay close attention and prepare for severe weather starting tomorrow. It appears that Desoto Parish will be under the target of a severe weather system that as of right now could produce tornadoes and high winds. As always all Desoto Parish Fire Department personnel are prepared and ready to respond to any emergencies that this storm may produce.
